CONTEMPORARY FURNITURE

The furniture designed by Ari Bayuaji is, in essence, functional artwork which employs recycled teakwood in construction. Old teak has a markedly different quality from teak harvested today as it is more dense, richer in colour, and less prone to deformation.

This platform was taken from a warehouse in Semarang (central Java) and was originally part of an old column that was cut into two. It is over 100 years old and was cut in the forest. This platform was originally used as a rice barn floor.
