CONTEMPORARY FURNITURE

The furniture designed by Ari Bayuaji is, in essence, functional artwork which employs recycled teakwood in construction. Old teak has a markedly different quality from teak harvested today as it is more dense, richer in colour, and less prone to deformation.

This coffee table is made from a solid teak wood that was originally part of a staircase in an old Dutch colonial house built in  the 1920s in Salatiga, Central Java.
